Moore praises Morton despite Cappielow blank

Allan Moore will not push the panic button despite seeing his Morton side again fail to hit the back of the net.
Their 0-0 draw with St Mirren was their second goal-less draw in succession after they were held by Dumbarton in the Alba Challenge Cup.
But the Ton more than held their own against their SPL counterparts before losing out 4-3 on penalties in front of a healthy 3,600 crowd.
Moore said: “I will be concerned five weeks into the season if we have still not scored any. The strikers are still finding their feet.
“I thought Stewart Kean and Peter Weather-son linked up well, particularly in the first half.”
New signing Foaud Bachirou impressed in the middle of the park, and Moore is hoping for more of the same from “Fred”.
He said: “I think if we get good pitches in our division then he will be a star. He is a great passer of the ball, he has got great energy and he puts a tackle in as well.
“We are hoping we can build on this performance for Saturday’s trip to Stranraer in the first round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.”
The Alba Cup second-round draw was once again unkind to Morton, with a journey to Ross County for the third consecutive season awaiting on Tuesday, August 10 or Wednesday, August 11.
Meanwhile, Moore has named local businessman John Laird as youth director.
Laird, a diehard fan, has extensive knowledge of professional youth set-ups which he has studied in both Scotland and England.
